About Me
My name is Darla Burns and I have been married since 1994 and have 2 wonderful children. I have been passionate about birth as long as I can remember. I started doing doula work in 1990 but only realized in 2003 that there was a name for the work I was doing. I immediately took my training to be a labor doula and then continued on that path and became a postpartum doula, childbirth educator, Happiest Baby on the Block Instructor , Infant Massage Instructor, and a Lactation Educator.
In October 2005, Doulas Association of Southern CA honored me with the Favorite Postpartum Doula of the Year award. This was the icing on the cake, considering I love my job so much! What an honor! In 2009, I was named Doula Mentor of the Year!!
In 2007, I became the CAPPA Postpartum Doula Trainer for the state of California. If you want more information, see my Trainings page. In 2009, I became the Executive Director of Postpartum Doulas for CAPPA where I oversee the Postpartum Doula Program, Trainers and Faculty in the U.S.
For doula work, I currently serve Valencia and the rest of the Santa Clarita Valley and the San Fernando Valley. I hold Postpartum Doula Trainings throughout the state of California.
