Becoming a Postpartum Doula

The Postpartum Doula is a trained professional that offers non-medical physical, emotional and spiritual support to a new family after the birth of their baby. Postpartum Doulas also offer breastfeeding/chestfeeding support, household maintenance, family nurturing and instruction to parents and/or other family members in the care of a newborn. The Postpartum Doula’s job is to make the transition to parenthood easier for new parents, to help the birthing person during their recovery period, and to ascertain what the family needs help with and provide the instruction.
The main objective of the Postpartum Doula’s role is not to take over complete care of the newborn, but to educate and support the family so that they will feel empowered to care for their newborn themselves.

NOTE: No pre-requisites required!
My 2-day course is the first step to becoming a CAPPA Certified Postpartum Doula.
This training goes from 8:30a-6:30p each day!

The 2-day training is $575
This course covers the following:
Training fees include the 2-day workshop, training manual, binder of materials, daily snacks/drinks (for in-person trainings), shipping of materials (for online trainings), mentorship through certification. Beginning with the May 2021 training, all trainings will also include 1 year of CAPPA membership.
Prior to attending the training, please complete the Postpartum Doula Pre Training Assignment

FOR IN-PERSON TRAININGS (COVID modifications):
- Indoor, in-person trainings will be kept to no more than 20 persons depending on venue.
- In order for the students to hear the instructor clearly the instructor will not be wearing a mask during the training.
- Instructor will not be verifying students' proof vaccine. This is done on the honor system.
- Group work will be encouraged to be done outdoors.
- Any student who feels they may be sick should transfer to another training date. If it is apparent to the instructor that any student is ill during class, they will be asked to leave and attend a future training date. There are no refunds.
- Hand sanitizer will be made available for all students, as well as access to soap and water.
- New disposable masks will be made available to any student who needs/wants one.
- Instructor holds no responsibility/liability for any illness(es) that may be spread during a training. Again, students should NOT attend an in-person training if they are feeling ill or exhibiting any signs of illness.
